Olympic National Park: Why This Little-known Park is Ideal for Forest Camping

Seattle is known for being a city teeming with hipsters, a thriving music scene, and graffiti. After all, the city does have a gum wall, in which chewed up gum is plastered over concrete. However, just a short drive from the city are some of the most marvellous parks for forest camping and hiking in the world. I may be biased, having grown up a Seahawks fan, but I still think that even biased opinions can hold some merit.

Only around two hours from the city lies the Olympic National Park, named after Mount Olympus, a place that is the ideal home of the Greek gods. It surely seems fit as a place the gods would call home.

It is home to luminous mountain peaks; wild, rocky beaches; and lush rainforests. Its mountains are easy to get lost in, but sticking to the trails will offer the curious adventurer scenic spots to camp in, among nothing but marmots and eagles. Its beaches offer an exciting opportunity for experienced surfers, while the Hoh Rainforest offers the scent of wonderful lichen. Venturing further gives the voyager purple lupine, which is worthy of any religious deity.
